- AECOM Workshop on Master Plan - 7th & 8th February 2012
The company organised a 2 day workshop to finalize the master plan of the proposed project on 7th & 8th February 2012. The first day of the workshop was on connectivity and the 2nd Day was on Port Infrastructure. AECOM the EPC Consultants to the project had presented the various options available for the master plan to the audience which included officials from KWA, KSEB, TCP Department, Ports Department, PWD, KINFRA, Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, RVNL, National Highway, Cochin Shipyard Limited, Harbour Engineering Dept., Hydrographic Survey Wing, L&T Ramboll, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited¸ Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Coast Guard, etc. Their opinions have been considered and were discussed with International Finance Corporation and Royal Haskonings on 17th February at Delhi and are being finalised.
- VISL website Relaunch
The revised website of VISL with latest status, study reports and Global search details was relaunched on 16 August, 2011 by Hon. Chief Minister Shri.Oommen Chandy. The function at CM's chamber was attended by Minister of Excise and Ports Shri. K. Babu, VISL officials, Media persons.

Minister for Ports K. Babu informed, that the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests cleared the Terms of Reference for the environmental impact study for the proposed International Container Transshipment Terminal at Vizhinjam.

- Rehabiliation package for affected families at Vizhinjam

State Minister for Ports, K.Babu said that State government had announced a package of measures to rehabilitate the families that would have to be shifted from their houses for the sake of the project. The families would get compensation at the rate of 150 per cent of the 'enhanced value' assessed for their land in 2010. They would get five cents of land each free-of-cost for building new houses and Rs.3 lakh each in addition to the full cost of their existing houses, as assessed by the Public Works Department.
